How is Hitchcock telling the story of the movie in just one long panning shot? In the film Rear Window by Alfred Hitchcock, he uses this one panning shot almost as a foreshadowing to the rest of the movie. After watching this film, as a viewer I am able to see and hear things in the original panning shot that enables me to understand how Hitchcock summarizes the whole movie through the first shot. We can hear mysterious music which answers the question of what genre this film is. Also, he uses birds chirping and other background noise to indicate that they are in a neighborhood. This is a perfect intro as it sets the scene for the rest of the film. Also, the viewer sees all the main characters that the man looks at throughout the whole film. This is also a great introduction to the dynamic of how this specific neighborhood works. In this clip, I hear mysterious and sort of upbeat music. Also, the viewer can clearly hear all the background noise used to show the neighborhood blocks chaos and instability. Using these sounds, the director can set the mood for the film as the viewer will view this as a mystery.  In the late 1940's , the Post-war period of film began. During this time, the fear of communism spreading was prevalent. Many organizations, especially HUAC, thought that directors would use media to turn people to the beliefs of communism. This caused many to be skeptical leading to the blacklisting of some members in the film industry. 

Reflection of Film In this film we used many different editing and filming techniques to create an Avant Garde film. We used the resolution 1280x720 in this film. Also aspect ratio is just the ration between the width and the height. This would make the aspect ratio for our film 16:9. We want to make sure that the aspect ratio is good so our video does not look stretched or squished. Overall, I learned a lot about editing and filming in general from this film.
